Harrogate District is a beautiful area of North Yorkshire that encompasses the villages and hamlets of Killinghall, Ripley, Beckwithshaw, Follifoot and Plompton Rocks. The radius is 10 miles from the heart of Harrogate and it is wonderfully characterised by rolling green dales, woodland valleys, stone walls, and quaint villages. Each of the villages are within a 20-minute drive of the town, and many guests choose to pick up the Park and Ride service at Poppleton Bar or take the train. Day trips to York and Leeds are also possible via the public transport network from Harrogate, making staying in one of our cottages in Harrogate District a great choice.

Cyclists will be happy to learn that the Greenway route winds its way through the District between Ripley and Harrogate. You can hire a bicycle at the Harrogate end of the Greenway too. If you love trying out new foods check out the farm shop-cum-food hall and café at the Great Yorkshire Showground called Fodder. It’s a foodie heaven, where you will get enough inspiration to prepare the most exciting picnic of your life. Other places to go in the wider Harrogate area include Ripley Castle, Fountains Abbey, the Nidderdale AONB, Brimham Rocks, Rievaulx Abbey, The Forbidden Corner, and Studley Royal Water Garden.
